Stop Staring

Sometimes when I do a fashion post you'll also get a history lesson. Today is one of those times. The 1950's had two major assets. Betty Paige and fashion. Both were not only extremely beautiful but absolutely timeless. I know everybody doesn't feel the retro look, but I plan on turning some of you non believers into "stans". The best brand out there when you decide to get your pin up girl on is Stop Staring. They have a huge selection of really nice pieces and an unbelievable celebrity following. Maybe one of the best parts is that almost every piece is also available in plus sizes. Because in the 1950's a size 10 was considered average, and every major movie star of that time, from Marilyn Monroe to Jayne Mansfield (one of my personal favorites), was either that size or larger. Unlike the size 0/2 of our movie stars today.

Just in case some of you didn't know who Betty Paige was I included a pic of her. This lady is a legend. This is THE pinup girl and really the first true super model. She stepped outside of the norm at a time when dressing/looking like her wasn't sociably acceptable. And in the process solidified herself as a Icon. When the Telephone video (by Beyonce & Lady Gaga) airs Thursday night, you only have to look at my girl B to see how influential Betty Paige still is today.
